Mokshada Ekadasi ~

                        Mokshada Ekadasi
                                    ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय
The Ancient History of Mokshada Ekadasi from Brahmanda Purana:

Yudhishthira Maharaj said, "O Vishnu, master of all, O delight of the three worlds, O Lord of the entire Universe, O creator of the world, O oldest personality, O best of all beings, I offer my most respectful obeisances unto You.
"O Lord of lords, for the benefit of all living entities, kindly answer some questions that I have. What is the name of the Ekadasi that occurs during the light fortnight of the month of Margashirsha (November-December) and removes all sins? How does one observe it properly, and which Deity is worshipped on that holiest of days? O my Lord please explain this to me in full."
Lord Sri Krishna replied, "O dear Yudhishthira, your enquiry is very auspicious in itself and will bring you fame. Just as I previously explained to you about the dearest Utpannaa Maha-Dwadasi - which occurs during the dark part of the month of Margashirsha, which is the day when Ekadasi-devi appeared from My body to kill the demon Mura, and which benefits everything animate and inanimate in the three worlds - so I shall now relate to you regarding this Ekadasi that occurs during the light part of the month of Margashirsha. This Ekadasi is famous as Mokshadaa because it purifies the faithful devotee of all sinful reactions and bestows liberation upon him. The worshippable Deity of this all auspicious day is Lord Damodara. With full attention one should worship Him with incense, a ghee lamp, fragrant flowers, and Tulasi manjaris (buds).
                                       ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय
"O best of saintly kings, please listen as I narrate to you the ancient and auspicious history of this wonderful Ekadasi. Simply by hearing this history one can attain the merit earned by performing a horse sacrifice. By the influence of this merit, one's forefathers, mothers, sons, and other relatives who have gone to hell can turn around and go to the heavenly kingdom. For this reason alone, O king, you should listen with rapt attention to this narration.

"There once was a beautiful city named Champaka-nagar, which was decorated with devoted Vaishnavas. There the best of saintly kings Maharaj Vaikhaanasa, ruled over his subjects as if they were his very own dear sons and daughters. The brahmins in that capital city were all expert in four kinds of Vedik knowledge. The king, while ruling properly, had a dream one night in which his father was seen to be suffering the pangs of hellish torture in one of the hellish planets ruled over by the Yamaraj. The king was overwhelmed with compassion for his father and shed tears. The next morning, Maharaj Vaikhaanasa described what he had seen in his dream to his council of twice born learned brahmins.
" ' O brahmanas,' the king addressed them, 'in a dream last night I saw my father suffering on a hellish planet. He was crying out in anguish, "O son, please deliver me from this torment of this hellish condition !" Now I have no peace in my mind, and even this beautiful kingdom has become unbearable to me. Not even my horses, elephants, and chariots and my vast wealth in my treasury that formerly brought so much pleasure, gives me no pleasure at all.
" 'Everything, O best of the brahmins, even my own wife and sons, have become a source of unhappiness since I beheld my father suffering the tortures of that hellish condition so. Where can I go, and what can I do, O brahmins, to alleviate this misery? My body is burning with fear and sorrow ! Please tell me what kind of charity, what mode of fasting, what austerity, or what deep meditation, and in service upon which Deity I may have to perform to deliver my father from that agony and bestow upon liberation upon my forefathers. O best among the brahmins, what is the use of one's being a powerful son if one's father must suffer on a hellish planet? Truly, such a son's life is utterly useless, to him and to his forefathers.
" The twice born brahmins replied, 'O king, in the mountainous forest not far from here is the ashram where a great saint Parvata Muni resides. Please go to him, for he is tri-kala-jnan (he knows the past, the present, and the future of everything) and can surely help you in your gaining relief from your misery.'
"Upon hearing this advise, the distressed king immediately set out on a journey to the ashram of the famous sage Parvata Muni. The ashram was indeed very big and housed many learned sages expert in chanting the sacred hymns of the four Vedas (Rg, Yajur, Sama, and Arthava). Approaching the holy ashram, the king beheld Parvata Muni seated among the assembly of sages adorned with hundreds of tilaks (from all the authorised sampradayas) like another Brahmaa or Vyaas.

     ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय
"Maharaj Vaikhaanasa offered his humble obeisances to the muni, bowing his head and then prostrating his entire body before him. After the king had seated himself among the assembly Parvata Muni asked him about the welfare of the seven limbs of his extensive kingdom (his ministers, his treasury, his military forces, his allies, the brahmins, the sacrificial offerings performed, and the needs of his subjects). The muni also asked him if his kingdom was free of troubles and whether everyone was peaceful, happy and satisfied. To these enquiries the king replied, 'By your mercy O glorious and great sage, all seven limbs of my kingdom are doing very well. Yet there is a problem that has recently arisen, and to solve it I have come to you, O brahmana for your expert help and guidance'.
"Then Parvata Muni, the best of all sages, closed his eyes and meditated on the king's past, present and future. After a few moments he opened his eyes and said, 'Your father is suffering the results of committing a great sin, and I have discovered what it is. In his previous life he quarrelled with his wife and forcibly enjoyed her sexually during her menstrual period. She tried to protest and resist his advances and even yelled out, "Someone please save me! Please, O husband, do not interrupt my monthly period in this way!" Still he did not stop or leave her alone. It is on account of this grievous sin that your father now has fallen into such a hellish condition of suffering.'

"King Vaikhaanasa then said, 'O greatest among sages, by what process of fasting or charity may I liberate my dear father from such a condition? Please tell me how I can relieve and remove the burden of his sinful reactions, which are a great obstacle to his progress toward ultimate release (salvation - liberation - going back home).'

                                      ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय
"Parvata Muni replied, 'During the light fortnight of the month of Margashirsha there occurs an Ekadasi called Mokshadaa. If you observe this sacred Ekadasi strictly, with a full fast, and give directly to your suffering father the merit you will thus attain/obtain, he will be freed from his pain and instantly liberated'.
"Hearing this, Maharaj Vaikhaanasa profusely thanked the great sage and then returned to his palace to perform his vrata (austere rite, austerity). O Yudhishthira, when the light part of the month of Margashirsha at last arrived, Maharaj Vaikhaanasa faithfully waited for the Ekadasi tithi to arrive. He then perfectly and with full faith observed the Ekadasi fast with his wife, children, and other relatives. He dutifully gave the merit from this fast to his father, and as he made the offering, beautiful flower petals showered down from the devas who peered out from behind the clouds in the sky. The king's father was then praised by the messengers of the demigods (devas) and escorted to the celestial region. As he passed his son, as he traversed the lower to middle to higher planets, the father said to the king, 'My dear son, all auspiciousness unto you!'
At last he reached the heavenly realm from where he can again with his newly acquired merit perform devotional service to Krishna or Vishnu and in due course return back to home back to Godhead.
"O son of Pandu, who so ever strictly observes the sacred Mokshadaa Ekadasi, following the established rules and regulations, achieves full and perfect liberation after death. There is no better fasting day than this Ekadasi of the light fortnight of the month of Margashirsha, O Yudhishthira, for it is a crystal-clear and sinless day. Whoever faithfully observes this Ekadasi fast, which is like chintaa-mani (a gem that yields all desires), obtains special merit that is very hard to calculate, for this day can elevate one from hellish life to the heavenly planets, and for one who observes Ekadasi for his own spiritual benefit, this elevates one to go back to Godhead, never to return to this material world."
Thus end the narration of the glories of Margashirsha-shukla Ekadasi or Mokshada Ekadasi, from the Brahmanda Purana.

Mount Meru

Mount Meru
Mount Meru is a sacred mountain with five peaks in Vedic cosmology and is considered to be the center of all the physical, metaphysical and spiritual universes.

Meru is also called Sumeru (Sanskrit) or Sineru (Pāli)

Many famous Hindu and similar Jain as well as Buddhist temples have been built as symbolic representations of thismountain. The highest point (the finial bud) on the pyatthat, a Burmese-style multi-tiered roof, represents Mount Meru.
The dimensions attributed to Mount Meru, all the references to it being as a part of the Cosmic Ocean, along with several statements like that the Sun along with all the planets circle the mountain, make determining its location most difficult, according to most scholars.

The Surya Siddhanta mentions that Mt Meru lies in 'the middle of the Earth' ("Bhugol-madhya") in the land of the Jambunad (Jambudvip). Narpatijayacharyā, a 9th-century text, based on mostly unpublished texts of Yāmal Tantr, mentions "Sumeruḥ Prithvī-madhye shrūyate drishyate na tu" ('Su-meru is heard to be in the middle of the Earth, but is not seen there').

Vārāhamihira, in his Panch-siddhāntikā, claims Mt Meru to be at the North Pole (though no mountain exists there as well). Suryasiddhānt, however, mentions a Mt Meru in the middle of Earth, besides a Sumeru and a Kumeru at both the Poles.

There exist several versions of Cosmology in existing Hindu texts. In one of them, cosmologically, the Meru mountain was also described as being surrounded by Mandrachal Mountain to the east, Supasarv Mountain to the west, Kumuda Mountain to the north and Kailash to the south.

Sanatana Dharma legends
Mount Meru of Hindu traditions has clearly mythical aspects, being described as 84,000 Yojan high (which is around 1,082,000 km (672,000 mi), or 85 times the Earths's diameter), and having the Sun along with all its planets in the Solar System revolve around it as one unit.

One Yojana can be taken to mean about 11.5 km (8 or 9 mi) though its magnitude seems to differ over time periods. E.g. the Earth's circumference is 3,200 Yojanas according to Vārāhamihira and slightly less so in the Āryabhatiya, but is given to be 5,026.5 Yojanas in the Surya Siddhānta.

The Matsya Purana and the Bhāgvata Purāna along with some other Vedic texts consistently give the height of 84,000 Yojanas to Mount Meru which translates into 672,000 miles or 1.082 million kilometers. Mount Meru is also the abode of Lord Brahma and the Demi-Gods (Dev).

Godess Shivaduti -

Shivaduti is a powerful manifestation of Mother Goddess Shakti. Shivaduti means "one who has Shiva as her messenger". Goddess Shivaduti made her appearance in the battle against demons Shumbha and Nishumbha. She symbolically represents the unfathomable power of Mother Goddess Shakti.
As in Devi Mahatmya, in the battle against the forces of Shumbha and Nishumbha, Mother Goddess took the manifestation of the Saptamatrikas. They were Shaktis of the male gods. After this appeared Shivaduti, the Shakti of Mother Goddess. This form is not associated with any male form.
Devi Mahatmya states that she appeared from the body of Mother Goddess in the most gruesome form – yelping like a hundred jackals. She then asked Lord Shiva to carry the message to Shumbha and Nishumbha that if they desire to battle against her out of arrogance and false belief in their strength, then they and their forces be ready to be devoured by her jackals.
It must be noted here that Goddess Shivaduti is a symbolic representation of what form Goddess Shakti can take to put down Adharma.

On the seventh cycle of waxing Moon
I meditate on Goddess Sri Lalita, who
Assumes the form of Shivaduti!
~*~
I bow to Shivaduti, the Lady of divine light
Who made the Lord, Her messenger in a fight
Who is brilliant like the summer Sun at noon
Whose crown is set with bright jewels nine
Who has arms eight and has lovely eyes three
Who holds all weapons and a bowl of jewels,
Who shines in garments red and whose smile
Is sweeter than nectar, and the destroyer of
Immoral conduct; who is always engaged
In granting boons to Her devotees true,
Whose laughter is like peals of thunder
Whose words are the miracles wonder,
Who is always eulogized by sages;
May She remove all mishaps in life
May She grant the jewels beautiful
To me victory and joyous life!

Another story say:
On the dark 14th day, the terrifying Kala bhairava wanted a sacrifice. The 8 yoginis, who had emanated from the 8 matrikas realizing that they would reign supreme if the sacrifice is made, decided to do so. They extracted ambika from the cave within sadashiva, where she resides and made Uma herself the sacrificial pashu for the bhairava.
Shiva realized that his heart had become empty without Parvati, and they say Shiva without shakti is but a shava (corpse)! Vishnu was observing what had come to pass and acted rapidly. From Vishnu emanated the terrible Samkarshana (Shri Samkarshana is the second expansion of the Origin Supreme). From him emerged the emanation of Narayana known as Mayavamana (little illusion). He had eight arms and was of yellow complexion. He wore a red robe and a golden headgear. He held the halayudha, Danda, Sunanda and other terrible weapons. From Garuda emanated a Ram, which became the vahana of Mayavamana. He was of the form of a youth. His Maya Shakti manifested as 4 beautiful space-clad (naked) goddesses, Karpuri, Kasturi, Kuñkumi and Chandani, who were Mahamohinis (grand illusions), from whose delusion no one was spared. From the right of Vishnu the manifestation pertaining to the great Anushtubh mantra (of the avyakta), Narasimha emerged with a loud roar. Mayavamana and his retinue and Narasimha rushed at the yoginis and challenged them to a fight. They destroyed the mighty weapons of the yoginis with their astras, but their bodies were impregnable to strikes with any weapon. At this point they generated a terrifying goddess Shivaduti, who devoured the yoginis and asked shiva to remember his true nature. As soon as shiva thought of his true self ever-conjoint with the hidden shakti, from Mayavamana emerged another terrifying goddess known as Kalasamkarshani, who then retrieved Parvati from the yoginis and restored her to Sadashiva. Thus, Kalasamkarshani and Shivaduti became the guardians of Parvati. Parvati in honour of Narayana's serviced wore the images of Mayavamana and Narasimha as your earrings. ~*~

Chhath Puja Vrat Story-:

Pandavas were spending miserable days of exile in the forest, so much that Draupadi started wailing in misery one day. Yuddhisthira asked Dhoumya Muni a solution to their distress.

Dhoumya Muni said, “O Yudhisthira, listen. The food grains which sustain the life of creatures are the form of Lord Sun. Hence, Lord Sun is their father. One who worships Him on the Sixth or Seventh day of a fortnight of a lunar month with reverence and chants his 108 names gets son, wealth, gems, memories of past life, endurance and wisdom”.

Yuddhisthira worshipped Surya Bhagwan and pleased Him. He gave him a magical copper vessel and told him it would cook four varieties of food for them which will last till Draupadi, the 5 Pandavas’ wife took her meal. Mars & Saturn alignment - 23rd Aug to 2nd Sep World needs to be Awake & Alert !

Considering the upcoming transit of the Mars & the Saturn approaching together @23degree in Libra "Vishaka Nakshatara” (planetary war) signifies” a stimulus with undesirable consequences" that the time has come to invoke ours "voluntary motions" As, we all knows that a crisis disrupts the building blocks of a good life: education, income and health. Astrologically Vishaka denotes to "East direction". Thus movement shall be more significant towards the Eastern Countries and the North Direction like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu &Kashmir, and Himalayas regions Punjab etc. Tough times ahead Hard to deal with; especially causing pain or embarrassment, “unenviable moments for the world especially in the East Asia is the part of Asia that largely borders the Pacific Ocean, Notable Countries like The ( Russia, Afghanistan, China, Japan,India, Indonesia,Thailand,Vietnam, Iraq, Iran, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Cambodia, Pakistan) etc. are unfortunately will have to face difficult situations, hard to deal with especially causing pain or embarrassment to concern authorities is what I can predict considering the upcoming Mars & Saturn alignment .

Considering the upcoming Moon transit in fierce Magha Nakshatara, North, and West (USA, Europe) World will also not be spared by disaster, volcanic eruptions, quakes, fires, air-strikes, chemicals attacks etc.
We are part of the global community -- there long before catastrophe strikes, and long after first responders have moved on. As United citizens, we must know & acknowledge that one’s fate is tied to the fate of others and that all of society benefits from improvements in quality of life. Our success at preparing for responding to and recovering from disasters underpins our goals in education, income, health and above all by giving respect to Mother Nature.

These are the words of greats that come to my mind while writing-up about the Mars & Saturn meet up-:
“The earth will not continue to offer its harvest, except with faithful stewardship. We cannot say we love the land and then take steps to destroy it for use by future generations.” ― Pope John Paul II

“If we surrendered to earth's intelligence we could rise up rooted, like trees.” ― Rainer Maria Rilke,

“What's the use of a fine house if you haven't got a tolerable planet to put it on?” ― Henry David Thoreau

“We're in a giant car heading towards a brick wall and everyones arguing over where they're going to sit”  -― David Suzuki

Disaster work always has been and will continue to be local. However, we shall be committed to supporting members and partners as they assist their communities prepare for, respond to and recover from crises.

Astrologically The Mars (assault) and the Saturn (attrition, the negative stimulus) signifies "a conscientious decision to speak out about injustice", It’s high time that we must learn to be mindful of the future in spending money w.r.t save Nature (Environment) ---- May God bless us with Peace!
