As per Hindu Shastras there are 12 variants of the lord 

Sun known as (Aditya's) one of each month, Each having 

different Effect on our lives. 

Sun is one only, but its effect on lives on earth changes with the changing month, that is why every month Sun is worshipped in a different form, depending upon its effects. 

Following are the 12 variants known as Adityas of lord Sun -: 

Dhata: March – April

Aryama: April – May

Mitra: May – June

Varuna: June – July

Indra: July – August

Vivasvan: Aug – Sept

Tvashtha: Sept – Oct

Vishnu: Oct – Nov

Amshuman: Nov – Dec

Bhaga: Dec – Jan

Pusha: Jan – Feb

Parjanja: Feb - March

As per Sidereal astrology the Sun travels through the 12 zodiac

moves from one to another zodiac sign, its cosmic effects 

sign (Rashi's)during a period of one year. As the sun 

changes, and also changes the climate on earth. 

II अथ श्रीसूर्यकवचस्तोत्रम् II 

श्री गणेशाय नमः I 

याज्ञवल्क्य उवाच I 

श्रुणुष्व मुनिशार्दूल सूर्यस्य कवचं शुभम् I

शरीरारोग्यदं दिव्यं सर्व सौभाग्यदायकम् II १ II

दैदिप्यमानं मुकुटं स्फ़ुरन्मकरकुण्डलम् I 

ध्यात्वा सहस्रकिरणं स्तोत्रमेतदुदीरयेत् II २ II 

शिरो मे भास्करः पातु ललाटे मेSमितद्दुतिः I 

नेत्रे दिनमणिः पातु श्रवणे वासरेश्वरः II ३ II

 घ्राणं धर्म धृणिः पातु वदनं वेदवाहनः I 

जिह्वां मे मानदः पातु कंठं मे सुरवंदितः II ४ II 

स्कंधौ प्रभाकरं पातु वक्षः पातु जनप्रियः I 

पातु पादौ द्वादशात्मा सर्वागं सकलेश्वरः II ५ II 

सूर्यरक्षात्मकं स्तोत्रं लिखित्वा भूर्जपत्रके I 

दधाति यः करे तस्य वशगाः सर्वसिद्धयः II ६ II 

सुस्नातो यो जपेत्सम्यक् योSधीते स्वस्थ मानसः I 

स रोगमुक्तो दीर्घायुः सुखं पुष्टिं च विंदति II ७ II 

II इति श्री माद्याज्ञवल्क्यमुनिविरचितं सूर्यकवचस्तोत्रं संपूर्णं II

Do we feel the sun of ‘June’ month and of ‘December’ month is 

same? No!! With the changing months; Sun changes its effect 

on animal, crops and on every part of lives on earth. 

As Indra (July-Aug)  he allows rain on earth, As Dhata (Mar-

Apr), he creates life (this is time to reap the crop; 

Baisakhi festival is celebrated during this time)
